(1977) Scientific materialism in nineteenth century Germany, Dordrecht, Springer.
In this chapter we shall examine the way in which the scientific materialists used science, more properly how they used their conception of science, to draw conclusions about the social and political realm. Before attempting this, however, a word about the significance of such an enterprise.
