Conclusions

Patrick Bourgeois

pp. 128-147

Although various directions in Ricœur's development have been confronted and exposed, they have not been put up against the more general questions of his constancy and continuity, of the possibility and the nature of the pure reflection and eidetics of the will in general after its confrontation with Nabert, Freud, and semiology. From the beginning of this treatment the underlying intimation has been in favor of a certain fundamental continuity in the development of his philosophy of the will, not only in spite of his changes or deepening, but to some extent precisely because of his constant deepenings. Thus the explicit project of this concluding chapter becomes clear. This chapter therefore shall return to and recapture the development of this treatment to focus on the changes it captures. The return shall be more a synthesis than a summary.
