"Hätte Lyotard Mannheims Text gekannt", bemerkt Peter V. Zima in seinem Buch Moderne/Postmoderne, "wäre er möglicherweise auf den Gedanken gekommen, daß die Heterogenität der Diskurse nicht der Weisheit letzter Schluß ist" (1997, 386). Mit "Mannheims Text" meint Zima jene Passagen von Ideologie und Utopie, in welchen Mannheim sein Konzept der "relationalen Struktur des Erkennens' erörtert und zeigt, daß die nebeneinander gleichberechtigt geltende Partikularität seinsgebundener Diskurse in Bezug zueinander gesetzt werden kann, indem man ihre Aspektstruktur rekonstruiert, ihre Strukturdifferenzen erfaßt und somit eine Folie gewinnt, vor der die Diskurse ineinander übersetzbar und füreinander verständlich gemacht werden können (Mannheim 1929, 258).
