Bayesian confirmation

Roberto Festa

pp. 55-87

Given the fundamental role that the empirical confirmation of hypotheses plays in scientific practice, it is not surprising that many efforts have been devoted to the explication of this concept. As a result of these efforts, several measures of confirmation — or c-measures — have been introduced. Here, we will deal with the Bayesian analysis of confirmation and, more specifically, with the definition of appropriate Bayesian c-measures.
