(1994) Philosophy, mathematics and modern physics, Dordrecht, Springer.
One of the subjects being discussed at this workshop is the role of mathematics in theoretical physics. As a physicist I have an idea of what theoretical physics is. Looking at it from my own field of research, I may be allowed in the present context to restrict myself to that part of theoretical physics which aims at a theoretical description of the basic elements of the physical world: elementary particles and their interactions.
