One way to "represent" something is to make a picture of it. Another is to describe it or refer to it in words. Pictures are visual representations; words are verbal ones. But this difference is elusive. We look at words as well as pictures; representations of both kinds are for the eyes. How is pictorial representation more visual than verbal representation?
